Narcissus

Auras are what people reveal about themselves. Auras are also what people don't reveal about themselves. I see myself in other people, sometimes as if they are holding up a mirror in front of me.

This series of portraits is an autobiographical project documenting people I've met and places I've been. These portraits are completed over an evening, in a speed painting session, and conversations. I've found that these sessions can get quite intimate, and become a safe space for people to share aspects of their lives. Each painting depicts a person in their essence, and a collection of stories that inform my perception of people.

I found these paintings to be impulsive and more carefree than the work I usually do.
